To celebrate the release of the Robbie and Bobby Comic Collection, Julai did a super kindness, and put together a whole dang party! A bunch of nice folks came out to get silly. (Dress in costume, drink robot-themed shots, and just generally be super human beings.) Wow guys, thanks so much! It was the best.
It was also my burfday, so that was just icing on the proverbial cake. Yes, there was a cake which was karate chopped before the end of the night, because really, how else are you supposed to slice a cake on such an occasion? (Thanks Brittany!)
There was also a big surprise I was the only one not in on. (That’s how surprises work!) Julai used the classic “I gotta go change into some flats” trick and disappeared for a suspicious amount of time.
When she returned, she brought my friends Caroline, Ben, and Austin, and they were all dressed in Robbie and Bobby costumes. I guess cosplay is the word for this? Webcartoon cosplay? I don’t know, but it was amazzzzing. It’s the latest new trend because Julai and my friends are very trendy people, and up on all the latest fashions. Take notes!
Top row, left to right: Austin as Robbie, Ben as Bobby, Julai as Miss Bluestocking, and Caroline as Princess Boy. Bottom row: Me, unintentionally dressed as the book.
What a fine lookin’ bunch. I really didn’t have anything in mind for a book release event, but I couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the robot and boy’s debut into the world of printed literature.
Thanks everyone who came out to say hello, thanks Austin, Ben, Julai, and Caroline for dressing up in such fantastic outfits (if I do say so), and thanks again to Julai for hosting the book release party of the century. 2012 is going to be a good year for comics, I can feel it.

Dude, this is so awesome! You have truly reached a new level. I can’t wait till I can hang out Kittenfaces and Calypsos too!
Congrats on the book! Lemme know when Velocity picks them up and I’ll grab a copy.
It’s a cartoonist’s fever dream to be meet their creations! Those kiddos can really kick back the sauce, let me tell ya.
I’ll be sure to let you know about Velocity, thanks again for the tip!
