Do you guys read EQ Comics? My comic buddy Dan Long started a Kickstarter campaign to make his second collection. Check out his work if you haven’t already; it’s a delightfully dark and clever comic. And make a pledge to his campaign if you can!

Any of the pledge rewards are a great investment, and Dan’s one of the nicest cartoonists around. He’d really appreciate it. If you’re short on cash, that’s totally okay, too. Spread the news! EQ Comics may be one of your friend’s favorite comics, and they don’t even know it.

Drawing today’s comic reminded me of Fantastic Planet, another animated film I recommend. It’s got a great soundtrack as well. Very trippy stuff, my friends.

What doesn’t publish us makes us stronger? Hmm…

So here’s that surprise I promised you.

Today’s crystal comic is an homage to the hyper crystal man himself, William Cardini! He just came out with volume #2 of Vortex, an awesome comic about the ultra powerful space mage, Miizzzard. Check out a preview of Vortex #1 at Squidface and the Meddler. You can get both #1 and #2 in a nice combo pack at Cardini’s store.

Comicpalooza is drawing near, and this year I’m honored to be tabling with Mr. Cardini! If you’re in Houston May 25-27, you should come by and see us. We will melt stuff for you with our comics magic.

Did anyone catch COOG Radio last night around 8 pm? I was on the air! Conner Clifton had me on his show and we rapped about comics, video games, and some of the secrets underneath the University of Houston campus.

It was so much fun, I’m going back as soon as I can. Next time, I’ll give you guys a heads up–as much fun as it was, there is no recording of the show to share with you! I’m pretty bummed, but Conner says we can reenact the whole thing again after Comicpalooza.

Last week I heard back from TCAF about their waiting list, but it was too short notice for me to go this year–it’s happening this weekend! I’m excited for everyone who’ll be there–did you know you can run into Keith Mclean? He’ll have a new mini book–find him and get it!

Keith makes good comics. Read this one. Yeah, nice and easy.

To celebrate the awesomness of TCAF, I’ll include a bonus sketch page when you buy a mini book, because TCAF is all about the mini books. Have you see this one before? It has comics I drew in 2009-2010, (pre Wacom tablet times) and also has the eight part story of how Bobby and Miss Bluestocking first met! Super nostalgic stuff you guysss.

If you’re in Houston this Saturday April 28th, come out to the University of Houston’s MFAH thesis exhibition at DiverseWorks. Part of the show is a mini comic convention, and I’ll be there with my goodies. I’m among thirteen other Texas-based cartoonists in the show, and there’s no admission to get in.
