This comic was inspired by an actual picture day. Through photo-trickery, it appears this plucky grade schooler is casually aloft in the upper troposphere.

This is a photo of me, of course. Check out those tortoiseshell glasses! Besides just being totally ridiculous, this photo reference actually relates to Robbie and Bobby. It was around the fourth grade I started writing about and drawing Bobby. Robbie hadn’t shown up yet, so Bobby was free to roam the countryside causing all kinds of disasters with his dog Spot. (Yeah, I don’t know what ever happened to that dog.)

I’ll see if I can dig up any of these old drawings and stories for you. I’m sure they are pretty bad. Bobby’s head used to look more like an electrical socket! Speaking of old comics, I’m going to be publishing the very first Robbie and Bobby strip from 2003 in my new book. It’s not in the archives, so if you want to see it, (along with 100 pages of newer comics) I’m now taking pre-orders for the new Robbie and Bobby book. If you’d like to reserve a copy, now is the time!
